Earth Day, All Day, Every Day
Earth Day was April 22, 2013. To acknowledge and celebrate the environment, Sasaki designers from all disciplines presented quick presentations on sustainability, offering a unique glimpse into each individual’s perspective. The result was a fun and engaging event that covered a variety of topics from reducing a home’s energy consumption to estimating the economic value of planting trees. This breadth of ideas was too inspiring to keep to ourselves. Because we are constantly thinking about the Earth and how to best respect it, our celebration continues here, on our Tumblr, in an ongoing series of posts. We will begin with ideas presented on Earth Day, but if you have something to share, please do.
Without further adieu…
Interested in composting? We are, too! Take a look at Sasaki architect Justin Finnicum’s home setup. Justin repurposed shipping pallets to make a backyard compost bin. He now turns dry leaves and food scraps into nutrient-rich dirt for his garden.
